Partakers Christmas Thought

7 January 2022

Jesus 09: Jesus and me. Jesus and you.

1 John 5:9-12 – “We accept man’s testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which He has given about His Son. Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:9-12)

Almost everybody has an opinion of the man Jesus Christ, whose birth we celebrate at Christmas! Countless millions worship him today and down through history since His birth some 2000 years ago! Sometimes when people find out that I am a Christian, ask me “Who is your Jesus? Why are you a Christian?”

In the podcast today we investigate Jesus’ relationship with me. Come and listen to find out more!

Partakers Bible Thought

27 October 2021

My Jesus

(This was written during a particularly difficult week and these Bible verses were given to me at my baptism almost 40 years ago.)

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy that was set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Hebrews 12:1-3)

Jesus Christ the man who splits history BC & AD! The man who we claim is the messiah and saviour as spoken about by the prophets of old and written about by those who met Him…

Come as we look together briefly at Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith. Jesus Christ, fully God and fully human. Jesus Christ calls to you “Come and follow!” Jesus Christ, who always picks me up and never turns me down. Jesus Christ who loves me amazingly and who I love.

John Stott – Looking back on a life devoted to serving God

John RW Stott

Pioneer Outreach Worker

Today on Partakers Podcasts, we are looking back on the life of one of the most influential leaders of the Christian Church in the 20th Century. 27th April 2021 was the centenary of his birth. That leader, was John Stott. Come on in!

Introduction

G’day and welcome to Partake!  Tonight I want to give a reflection somebody who is indeed a servant of the Lord and took great delight in all of Scripture.  That person, is John RW Stott. By necessity, this is just a very brief introduction of the life of Reverend John Stott, and I concentrate mainly on his role as an evangelist. John Stott holds that he is more “an activist than a thinker”, which is certainly evident in his ministry as a pioneer outreach worker.  From the evidence of his life, we can see that has indeed fulfilled this thought.

Together we look briefly at:

His life and ministry

Being a pioneering outreach worker

His outreach theology

Outreach locally

Outreach globally

Influence

A lesson to be heeded

Conclusion

John Stott’s life exemplifies radical outreach and innovation, blended with a desire to serve Jesus Christ as Lord.  He is truly one of the twentieth centuries master servants of Jesus Christ.  To the staff and many members of the congregation of All Souls Langham Place down through the years, he is simply known as “Uncle John”.  He is unique in the Anglican church in that he has always been associated with the one church throughout his life and ministry. As we have seen here briefly, he was certainly one of them, and it is all to the glory of God that He raised up his servant, Uncle John.

The Reason I am a Christian

https://www.podbean.com/media/share/pb-jzayt-fb2d52

The Reason I am a Christian!

The Apostle John, writing:
We accept man’s testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:9-12

Today I share the reasons I am a Christian, a follower of Christ. Come and hear my story!
